All consumer cans or packaging materials containing ferrous materials are separated using various sorting techniques, then baled or compressed into various size bundles suitable for charging in a furnace. Steel can bundle ISRI 213: Steel can scrap that is compacted to the size of a charging box and weighs at least 75 pounds per cubic foot. Cans can be baled without the paper labels, but they must be free of nonmetallic contaminants. Up to 5-gallon tin covered containers are allowed. 

HMS Bundles are made up of 1/8 inch or thicker wrought iron and/or steel scrap compressed to charging box size and weighing no less than 75 pounds per cubic foot. All metal-coated materials have been removed.

217/218 on the ISRI scale. These are magnetically separated homogenous iron and steel scrap from autos, unprepared No. 1 and No. 2 steel, miscellaneous baling, and sheet scrap. 70 pounds per cubic foot and higher is the average density.
